Iceland Elements - Rafting on Hvítá River and Snowmobiling

Summer Activity Combination Day Trip from Reykjavík in Iceland

Includes: White Water Rafting on the Hvítá River & Snowmobile Trip on the Langjökull glacier in the Icelandic Highlands.

The Iceland Elements is one of our most action packed activity combination day trips. This great trip offers you the unique possibility of following the Hvítá River all the way from its source at the Langjökull glacier in the south central highlands to the coastline of the North Atlantic Ocean on Iceland’s south shore. Along the way you will experience two of Iceland's most popular outdoor activities, river rafting on the Hvítá glacier river and riding a snowmobile on the Langjökull glacier from the Skálpanes base camp.

Your adventures starts from Reykjavík in the early morning with a drive through the countryside to our base on the banks of the Hvítá. After gearing up and hearing our rafting guides explain the basic rafting technique and safety rules we will start our trip down the river. The Hvítá and the canyon it runs through is a supremely beautiful place and the rafting is great fun! You will even get a chance to jump from a cliff wall into the glacial water, glacier river swimming in Iceland!

After the rafting we will eat lunch in the base camp before heading up to the highlands above Gullfoss watefall. Arriving at the Langjökull glacier we gear up in warm overalls and sturdy booties before learning the basics of snowmobile driving on glaciers. Then we set of onto Iceland’s second biggest glacier; The Langjökull, the glacier is in fact several enormous ice filled volcanic craters, rimmed in by imposing volcanoes and set in the breathtaking Icelandic interior. The views from the glacier flanks of the Langjökull are quite staggering and driving the sleds is like the rafting, great fun and a unique way of exploring this northern nature.
